Long Table Dinner July 29, 2017
The highlight of Taste of Markerville is sure to be the Long Table Dinner starting at 6PM on Saturday, July 29, 2017. This year's chef team have worked overtime to create an exceptional fresh-tasty-local menu from the products available from our farm partners. Dozens of community volunteers will serve your meal in the scenic surroundings of Markerville on the banks of the Medicine River- weather permitting of course! Fensala Hall is the perfect back up venue.
Matt Burton, Your Private Chef Ltd. returns for the second year to lead the Long Table Dinner team. Matt began his training as a pastry and culinary chef in Montreal and now calls Innisfail home. Matt has worked in many different restaurant settings over the years, most recently treating hungry visitors to Ellis Cafe at the Ellis Bird Farm. Matt has a passion for fresh food and local ingredients, and he is excited to work with local producers to bring his vision for tasty and beautiful food to Taste of Markerville!
Derek Layden, the Executive Chef at the Innisfail Golf Club, credits his passion for food and cooking to his early kitchen experiences with his Great Grandma and his two Grandmas. Following training at The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver he gained professional experience with Regent Cruise Lines and at Calgary’s Hotel Arts and Kensington Riverside Inn. After many years away, Derek decided to bring his passion for cooking back home to Innisfail where he continues to be inspired by family, loved ones, and fresh, local food. Derek joins us for the third year as an integral part of the Taste of Markerville team.
